Botox is a protein produced from the microorganism Clostridium botulinum.

In Cosmetic Dermatology Botox is used to eliminate potential facial wrinkles and is the most popular anti-aging treatment.

Botox is a botulinum toxin that causes permanent immobilization of the muscles where it is injected. In the past it was used to treat involuntary contractions of the muscles around the eye and the neck (twitch). Botox blocks substances (neurotransmitters) that send the message of movement from nerves to muscles.

Botox is used in medical aesthetics to treat facial wrinkles. Mainly for wrinkles of the forehead, glabella and lateral part of the eye (crow’s feet).

The face becomes more relaxed and the gaze improves. The effects of botox appear 15 days after treatment and last 4-6 months because the action of the toxin varies from person to person.

Another use of botox is to control excessive sweating on the soles of the feet, palms and armpits, as well as to reduce migraines.
